How it works

Log it. Review it. Beat it.

Most trackers just store your numbers. Muscle Smith reads them and coaches your next session.

Log your sets

Tap through reps and weight with last session's numbers right beside every set. Rate how it felt when you finish.

Get your review

Before your next session, tell it how you feel. It checks your recent sets and proposes changes, before-and-after numbers included.

Progress, safely

Accept the changes you want with one tap. Weights climb in steady steps, and deload weeks arrive when you've earned them.

Then repeat. Every session builds on the last one.

Workout Review

A coach that reads every set

Each suggestion comes with a plain reason and the exact change. Here's the kind of call it makes, word for word from the app:

Bench PressIncrease

You're finishing sets with reps to spare — there's room to push further.

6–7 reps → ▲ 8 reps
Overhead PressDecrease

Last session felt very hard — we eased off slightly so you can own this weight before pushing again.

175 lb → ▼ 170 lb
Bent-Over RowNo change

Last session felt hard — hold these numbers this time. If it's still hard next time, we'll ease off a little.

Romanian DeadliftDeload

Deload week: you've progressed for 4+ weeks straight. This session goes about 10% lighter with half the sets so you recover and come back stronger — your regular weight and sets return automatically next session.

Smart progression

Trains around how you feel

Some days you're hyped, some days you're sore. The review asks first, then adjusts.

  • Progressive overload. Clean sets earn more weight in small increments.
  • Planned deload weeks. After 4+ weeks of steady progress: one session about 10% lighter with half the sets, then your regular plan comes back automatically.
  • Hard-day back-offs. A hard session holds your numbers, a very hard one eases off, and a run of tough sessions brings the weight down a little.
  • Fatigue across workouts. Hammered your chest yesterday? Today's push day knows.
The review asking how you're feeling: Sore, Low Energy, Normal, Ready to Grind or Hyped
Weekly Check-In

Your week, summarized

Every week, a plain-English recap lands at the top of your home screen: sessions, total volume, lifts that climbed, lifts that stalled, and a practical next step.

  • Missing muscle groups. It flags the muscles you usually train but skipped, and Stats shows every group with no volume.
  • Stalled lifts. Stuck at the same weight and reps for three sessions? You'll hear about it, with an idea to break through.

Ask Muscle Smith

Got a question? Just ask

Ask about all your training, one workout, or a single exercise. Answers use your own logged sets and come backed by exercise-science guidance, so you get "your rear delt volume is 0, so add Face Pull and Rear Delt Fly," not generic advice. Tap a suggested exercise to add it to a workout.

A chat asking what to add for rear delts; the answer notes zero rear-delt volume and suggests Face Pull, Rear Delt Fly and Band Pull-Apart
AI-built plans

A plan built around you

Four quick questions: your goal, experience, schedule and equipment. Muscle Smith builds the workouts, and you can ask for changes before you accept them.

  • Injury-aware. Tell it about a bad shoulder or a health note and the plan steers around it.
  • Real programming. Plans lead with proven lifts and add genuine accessory variety, not three versions of the same press.

Exercise library

900+ exercises. Add your own.

Search by name or muscle group. Every exercise has step-by-step form cues, most have start-and-finish photos, and many have video demos.

  • Custom exercises. Can't find your gym's weird machine? Add it with its muscle groups, equipment, reps or timed holds, and a demo video link.
  • Video demos play right in the app, mid-workout.

FAQ

Questions, answered

I'm a total beginner. Is this for me?

Yes. Tell the setup you're new and it builds a beginner-friendly plan, or pick a Beginner workout from the library. Every exercise has form instructions, and the review keeps weight increases small and steady so you build up safely.

I've been lifting for years. What does it add?

An extra set of eyes on your log. It spots stalls, schedules deload weeks, reads your difficulty ratings, and accounts for fatigue from your other workouts. It also answers specific questions about your own numbers, and you can build fully custom workouts and exercises.

How does the Workout Review decide what to change?

It looks at your recent sessions of that workout: whether every set finished, how hard you rated it, how long you've been progressing, what you trained elsewhere recently, and how you say you feel today. Each suggestion shows its reason and the exact before-and-after numbers, and nothing changes until you accept it.

What's a deload week?

A planned lighter session after a long run of progress: about 10% less weight and half the sets, so your body can recover and come back stronger. Muscle Smith schedules it after 4+ weeks of steady gains, then puts your regular weights and sets back automatically.

Do I need a gym?

No. Choose the equipment you have, from none at all to a full commercial gym, and the plans and ready-made workouts match it. There are bodyweight-only, dumbbell-only, kettlebell, band and travel options.

Which devices does it work on?

iPhone, Android and any web browser. Your account and workouts sync between them.

Is this medical advice?

No. Muscle Smith gives general fitness guidance. Talk to a doctor before starting a new program, especially with an injury or health condition.
